Work on the New Children's Garden is Progressing
Work on Phase I of the new Children’s Garden began in November with the building of stone walls and bridges, digging of trenches and some initial plantings. The Children’s Garden is taking over some of the space from the Water Wise Demonstration Garden, with the permission of Spartanburg Water, who helped design and implement the drought tolerant garden. The wood boards that created initially created angular beds for the Water Wise Demonstration Garden were removed and the borders of the remainder sections have been softened and rounded. Gravel has been laid down for the paths of the garden. Water will flow in the trenches. The Children’s Garden will continue down past the Harold Hatcher monument and descend into the main garden beside the upper pond.
