Hatcher Garden, a botanical garden and woodland preserve in Spartanburg, has planted some new additions they hope will make it easier for people to find and access the attraction.
After a two-year fundraising campaign, the nonprofit located at 820 John B. White Sr. Blvd. officially unveiled new roadside signs, an expanded parking lot and brick entrance-way during a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning.
“We had poor visibility from the main road,” said Stan Parker, who led the fundraising drive. “People flew by and never knew we were here. We wanted to improve the visitor experience.”
“This is one of the biggest milestones so far in the history of Hatcher Garden,” Stanford McMillan, the chairman of the Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve Board of Trustees, told a small crowd Monday. “It’s a great day in Spartanburg.”
