Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve Welcomes Dan Shook as New Executive Director

Hatcher Garden is excited to announce the appointment of Dan Shook as the new Executive Director. With a rich background in horticulture and landscape management, Dan brings a wealth of experience to this leadership role, having previously served as the Garden Manager at Hatcher Garden and owning his own successful landscaping business.

In his time as Garden Manager, Dan demonstrated a deep commitment to enhancing the beauty and sustainability of Hatcher Garden. His vision for community engagement and educational programming helped to strengthen the Garden's role as a cherished local resource. As Executive Director, he aims to further cultivate these initiatives while expanding outreach and fostering partnerships within the community.

“Dan’s passion for horticulture and his understanding of our Garden’s mission make him the perfect fit for this role,” said Loreta Dylgjeri, Chair of the Hatcher Garden Board of Trustees. “We are confident that under his leadership, Hatcher Garden will continue to flourish and inspire future generations.”

Dan holds a degree in Plant Science from Clemson University, and his extensive experience in landscaping and garden management uniquely positions him to lead Hatcher Garden into its next season. He is dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship and fostering a love for nature among visitors of all ages.

“I am thrilled to step into this role and continue the important work of Hatcher Garden. My personal mission is to provide a place for inspiration and emotional support so that we can go out and do the rest of our lives,” said Dan Shook. Harold Hatcher’s influence continues in a very different garden as an observant spirit directs, even today, an attentive curator.

Please join the Hatcher Garden staff, the Board of Trustees, and volunteers in welcoming Dan Shook as he embarks on this new journey.
