On behalf of The Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve Board of Trustees, The Hatcher Children’s Garden Steering Committee is seeking the services of a Landscape/Architecture/Engineering firm to provide all design services for approximately two acres within the current Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve into The Children's Garden.
Hatcher Garden is a 13-acre private garden open to the public every day from dawn to dusk. Children have been a vital part of the garden since its beginnings.
Some of our previous children-oriented projects include: The Spartanburg Regional Foundation Children’s Gazebo (left), The Little Free Library inside that Gazebo (middle) and the Children’s Sand Garden, with Myrtle the Turtle, in the Garden of Hope & Healing (right).
It is an ideal spot for family outings, Eagle Scout projects, and school visits. The Children’s Garden is envisioned as a learning environment designed to engage children’s interest and imaginations. It should expose children to learning opportunities in ecology, climate, horticulture, edible landscapes, composting and soils, recycling, pollination, native flora and fauna, and art, as well as call attention to natural landforms and processes. The Children's Garden purpose will be to educate young visitors by creating exciting encounters with nature and to instill the type of values in the children that will make them better stewards of their environment as they grow to adulthood.
