New Signage in the Garden

New educational signage has been installed in three of the existing frames in the garden, replacing or updating the previous panels. The first updated panel greets visitors at the entrance near the gazebo, in the Conifer Display Garden, is the Place for All Seasons which features a picture of the founders, Harold and Josephine Hatcher (above). The second sign (below) is about birds is on the Mary Black Foundation Woodland Trail, placed appropriately near the bird feeders that sit below the Spartanburg Regional Foundation Children’s Gazebo. A third sign is in the Josephine Hatcher Woodland Garden discusses Josephine Hatcher and her love of woodland wildflowers which mainly put on a show of flowers in the spring. As with the other new signage, these were made possible through a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation.

This sign is also sponsored by Wild Birds Unlimited.

Also, the Alphabet Trail has been spruced up. The letters, which spell out Hatcher Garden as you travel along the paths, have received a fresh coat of paint. Boy Scout Troop 2 braved the frigid below freezing temperatures to perform an Eagle Scout Project back in January 2018. They stained posts and boards, painted letters and dug holes for the posts.
