Hatcher Garden recognizes these businesses and organizations that help us enhance the beauty of our garden and help us in our mission.


The Spartanburg County Foundation - For 30 years, they have held the deed for the Hatcher Garden property and have managed the endowment and special project funds. They have supported Hatcher Garden with community grants.

Women Giving for Spartanburg and Spartanburg Regional Foundation - Through grants, have made significant donations creating new gardens areas, including the Garden Of Hope & Healing, within Hatcher Garden providing benefits and services improving the quality of life for many in the community.


Spartanburg Master Gardener Program Volunteers work with Hatcher Garden's horticulturists to learn hands-on gardening techniques and to satisfy the community service requirement of the program.

Horticulture Program at Spartanburg Community College - Interns learn about grounds management, propagation and expand knowledge of plant material through a paid summer program.

Clemson University Extension Service - co-ops on educational programs in the Garden.

Spartanburg Citizen Scholar Program - Youth work with Garden staff and volunteers learning about plant care and the value of serving their community as volunteers.

Swofford Career Center - Local high school students receive on-the-job training and instruction from Hatcher Garden's horticulturist.

McCarthy/Teszler School's Horticultural Program - Special needs students volunteer in Hatcher Garden on a weekly basis to learn about grounds maintenance.

Spartanburg Science Center - Brings children each year to Hatcher Garden for an outdoor classroom experience.

Converse College, Spartanburg Methodist College and USC Upstate - College students participate in community service projects helping with garden beautification and maintenance as well as special events.

South Carolina Park, Recreation & Tourism - Promotes Hatcher Garden and provides brochure placement in all Welcome Centers across the State.

Spartanburg Men's Garden Club - They have done numerous capital improvement projects in Hatcher Garden and have given many financial donations over the years.

Trees Coalition - Wednesday mornings this group gathers to eliminate invasive plants (ivy, privet, and wisteria) from Hatcher Garden. The Trees Coaltion is an offshoot of the Kudzu Coalition whose goal is the elimination of kudzu from Spartanburg County.

Altrusa International of Spartanburg - They funded the development of the Altrusa Native Plant Garden on the Bartram Trail as well as volunteered to help establish it.

Spartanburg Garden Club Council - Maintains areas in the Garden and assists with development of new areas. They have provided financial support with annual grants and with individual’s gifts.

The Haven - This homeless shelter provides volunteers who assist with our Halloween event: The Pumpkin Path.

Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts - Numerous service beautification and improvement projects have been completed in Hatcher Garden.

Middle Tyger Community Center - participates with our Christmas event: Santa in the Garden.

Garden Clubs - throughout Spartanburg County use Hatcher Garden for programs and sponsor garden plantings.


Spartanburg Convention & Visitors Bureau - Promotes Hatcher Garden visitation by tourists.

Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce - Business Member

Regional Hospice Home and Interim HealthCare Hospice - Utlizing the therapeutic features in the Garden Of Hope & Healing for bereavement and hospice care activities and programs, these hospices provide much needed emotional healing benefits to their patients and caregivers.

Spartanburg Water - Sponsored the Water Wise Demonstration Garden, an upgrade of the former Perennial Trial Garden . Signage was developed and installed to show Spartanburg Water's support of this XeriscapeTM enviroment. Also, they sponsored efforts to recycle water for irrigation uses throughout the Garden, as well as the Bio-Rentetion Pond.

Wild Birds Unlimited - Provides feeders and feed for birds, co-ops on programs concerning education and the enjoyment of wildlife.

Spartan Photo - Provides free photographs for our two children oriented events: The Pumpkin Path in late October and Santa in the Garden in early December.

Local Nurseries - Provide discounts on select purchases as a benefit of member \ship to Hatcher Garden; Partners are Carolina Garden World, Creekside Farm and Garden, and Piedmont Fam & Garden Supply Company.

Gunter's Gardens, Plemmons, and Roebuck Wholesale Nursery - Provide plant materials and plant advice to Hatcher Garden for upkeep, maintenance and beautification projects within the Garden.
